Earthquake Engineer - Catastrophe Risk Modeling

Seismic Hazard and Risk Analysis

Andrea Spillatura is a Structural Engineer who joined RED at the very start of 2018. He recently (2017) finished the PhD program in Understanding and Managing Extremes at Istituto Universitario Studi Superiori di Pavia (IUSS). He developed his research on seismic Risk with particular focus on Performance Based Earthquake Engineering (PBEE), ground motions selection procedures, fragility and vulnerability assessment of structures. He was part of a project about Risk Assessment of code complaints buildings funded by Italian Civil Protection. Andrea obtained also an MSc in Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology at IUSS in 2014. He did his undergraduate studies at Università degli Studi of Perugia obtaining a BSc (2008) in Civil Engineering and another MSc (2011) in structural engineering.

He is interested in various aspects of Earthquake risk assessment, from hazard to fragility, vulnerability and loss evaluation. He is currently working on the previous topics, applied in several projects that RED is holding.
